JSON to CSV Converter

Paste an array of JSON objects to get a CSV file you can open in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. Nested objects are flattened into columns automatically, and you can switch to CSV → JSON at any time.

JSON

CSV

Private: your data is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

How to convert JSON to CSV

  1. Paste JSON – usually an array of objects – or open a .json file.
  2. Choose the delimiter (comma, semicolon, tab or pipe) and decide whether to write a header row and to flatten nested objects into dot-path columns.
  3. Copy the CSV or download it. Tick Add a UTF-8 BOM for Excel so that accents and other non-English characters open correctly in Excel.

How JSON becomes rows and columns

JSONCSV result
Array of objects [{"id":1,"name":"Ada"}]One row per object, one column per key
Objects with different keysAll keys become columns; missing values stay empty
Nested object {"address":{"city":"London"}}Column address.city
Array value {"tags":["a","b"]}The cell contains ["a","b"]
nullEmpty cell
Text with commas, quotes or line breaksWrapped in double quotes, inner quotes doubled ("")
A single objectOne row
Array of arraysWritten row by row, without a header

Opening the CSV in Excel

Excel picks the delimiter from your regional settings: in many European countries it expects semicolons. If all data ends up in one column, convert again with the semicolon delimiter or import the file with Data → From Text/CSV. Turn on the UTF-8 BOM so that characters like é, ü or ñ display correctly, and keep in mind that Excel removes leading zeros from values such as ZIP codes unless the column is formatted as text.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert JSON to Excel?

Yes. Convert to CSV and open the downloaded file in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers or LibreOffice. To paste straight into a spreadsheet, use JSON to Table and its Copy for Excel button.

What happens to nested JSON?

Nested objects are flattened into dot-path columns such as address.city, while arrays are kept as JSON text in a single cell. Switch off the dot-path option to keep whole objects as JSON text instead.

Is there a size limit?

There is no fixed limit. The conversion runs in your browser, so files of tens of megabytes work on a typical computer.

Can I convert CSV back to JSON?

Yes. Switch the direction to CSV → JSON above the editor, or open the CSV to JSON converter.
